Georg Jensen "Pyramid" Sterling Silver Tray No. 600 H. With Georg Jensen stamps from 1932-1944.
The tray measures 28.5 x 17 cm. Weighs 416 grams. In good condition.
Designed by Harald Nielsen (1892 - 1977).
Harald Nielsen was the younger brother of Georg Jensen's third wife, Johanne. He wanted to be a painter, but was drawn into Georg Jensen's silversmith shop, where he started as an apprentice in 1909. From there he worked his way up as designer/director of the blacksmith apprentice school. In 1954 he became forge director and in 1958, he became artistic director, a position he held until 1962.
Nielsen's role as Apprentice Director was particularly important after Jensen's death in 1935, as Nielsen ensured the continued high quality of the company's design and production by recruiting talented young silversmiths and designers, and training them to the high standards of the Georg Jensen Silversmiths.
